Enjoy the holiday and manage sensory overload for yourself and your kids with the following tips:

1.  Map out the day in advance.  Let your child know exactly what you will be doing and what to  expect when you’re there.

2.  Keep everyone hydrated and well fed – avoid the sugar!

3.  If your day involves parades and fireworks, prepare ahead by explaining festivities, have an escape plan and consider noise canceling headphones if your child is sensitive to sound.

4.  Try to keep as close to your typical schedule as possible.  Sleep matters!
